Christ is risen, alleluia, alleluia! He is risen indeed.

This has been a particularly blessed holy season, with all the events of Holy Week celebrated in full.  Beginning with Palm Sunday and the procession of palms, Maundy Thursday with the blessing of the holy oils at the Chrism Mass in the morning followed by the foot washing ceremonies and stripping of the altars in the evening, the Solemn Veneration of the Cross and Communion of the Pre-sanctified on Good Friday, and culminating with the Pascal Ceremonies early on Easter Day.

Later on Easter Day, the bishop received the former Roman Catholic Parish of Langa, consisting of approximately 250 souls led by two lay ministers, after lengthy negotiations over a period of two years.  The bishop also had the joy of baptising nine children, after which 160 adults communicated and about sixty children received an episcopal blessing.  The parish have yet to decide upon a title.

On the 4th March Bishop Alan and his wife Jocelyn celebrated their Golden Wedding with a gathering of family and friends from far and near.  The previous Sunday the event was marked by a Solemn Pontifical High Mass of thanksgiving, at which they were joined by most of the Cape Town Clergy.
